Gill Bent

Description
Gill Bent was born in Taunton, Somerset in 1953. She studied for her first foundation year in 1971 at Somerset College of Art and then went on to do a degree in ceramics at the Bath Academy of Art from 1972-1975. In 1978 Gill was offered a place to work at the renowned Aldermaston pottery under the direction of Alan Caiger-Smith. This was where she first learnt to love thrown shapes and understand how to combine decoration and form. She spent four and a half years merging these skills and this formed the basis of the way she works now.
