Pieces of Work
Les Blakeborough's white-on-white designs as shown here are simple yet intriguing. The play of light masks and reveals woven patterns within each ceramic piece. Blakeborough experiments with surfaces to create opaque and translucent effects within one piece Blakeborough has exhibited nationally and internationally.
Blakeborough developed his own type of clay to suit the pieces he wanted to create as part of a six year research project, which he calls Southern Ice Porcelain. It is named after the part of the world which insiperd it - Tasmania and the Southern Ocean.
