Description
The more confident Bob Crooks has become at manipulating hot glass, the more relaxed he has grown in experimenting with colour, pattern and scale. Testing out unusual combinations of colours and twisting patterns around on their axis until they sit happily together. The results are both vigorous and delicate.
Within the range of production work such as perfume bottles, Bob has consciously developed work that is "one off", no two pieces are ever the same. His unique pieces have escalated in size, creating dramatic statements that although large scale closer inspection reveals intricacies and attention to fine detail.
Born in London and a BA Hons graduate in glass, Bob first worked at Whitefriars Glassworks in London where he soon became assistant to fellow glass artists Simon Moore, Catherine Hough and Steven Newell. He set up his own glass studio "Firts Glass" in 1990 in
Gloucestershire and in 2002 relocated the company to Devon.
His work has been exhibited at International level and in noted exhibitions in Italy, China, Australia and the USA, alongside many exhibitions and collections housed here in various towns across the UK.
